I take what you are saying....'do as thou wilt'.

But what if what you want is to follow a Christian way of life and adhere
very tightly to its rules and regulations?

That is still doing what you want....isn't it?

I wasn't advocating anything, merely commenting.
the phrase "do what thou wilt" is important to the
Religions of the Book, including its upstarts.

in a conventional sense of course it is. often the "thou" is
spun to incorporate some moral authority (like God's, whoever
you make that be), or some essential "Will" special license.
these selections might forbid following that (because the
desire or want is separated from the "will" or "wilt" or even
the "thou wilt" part). no matter how liberational this can be
presented, there are always those who will spin it back away
from desires and compound the matter accordingly.
