my response to this list (thanks for makin it!)
The following books are on the Reformed Church of Satan reading list
required to recieve ordination.
what is the benefit of ordination, beyond self-delusion?
The Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey
The Satanic Rituals by Anton Lavey
helpful in understanding emergent Satanism in 'church' conditions.
Social Realism & The Second Coming:Satanism by Yaj Nomolos
The Satanic Rituals by Yaj Nomolos
I don't know these texts. it seems to indicate that
"Jay Solomon", someone possibly Jewish, is writing
alternative material for Satanists. who is this and
why do you like their materials? what is the info
re publishing (copyright date, publisher, etc.)?
Real Magic by Issac Bonnewitts
P.E.Isaac Bonewits. one of the only individuals to have
obtained an academic degree (BA?) in study of magic
(at UCBerkeley of course). excellent introduction to
the subject, but an ardent former-Satanist with issues
about his encounter with the CoS he's explained very
voluminously within such forums as The Green Egg.
Liber Chaos by Peter Carol
Peter Carroll. ignorable, unreliable.
The Practical Psychic by John Friedlander
Psychic Self Defense by Dion Fortune
How To Know Higher Worlds by Rudolf Stiener
Psychicism isn't essential to Satanism except of certain
types, such as those wed to transmaterial effects and
the dreams of superpowers. Steiner (note spelling) is
a post-Blavatskyite/post-Theosophist..
3 Books of Occult Philosophy <donald tyson editor> by H C Agrippa
essential for any study of magic. what it has to do with
Satanism is anyone's guess. your book list, overall, has
more to do with occultism than with Satanism and the
personfication of evil through time. many Satanists have
avoided the study of the Adversary in favour of the
Promethean, and thereby encountered all manner of lie.
Tyson has some problems but nothing indicating that we
should avoid his edition of this classic occult work.
Liber ABA by Alister Crowley
much if not all of this is online.

<some reshuffling to avoid reiteration of character>
The Magicians Workbook by Donald Tyson
Modern sex Magick By Donald Michael Kraig
Secrets of The German Sex Magicians by Frater U D
not at all pertinent to Satanism per se.
The Demonic Bible by Tsirk Susej
apparently a Jesusonian ("Jesus Krist" backwards).
what is included within this text? what is its
publishing information?
True Magick By Amber K
helpful for learning the basics of magic.
much if not all of this is online.
A Kabballah For The Modern World by Migene Gonzalez Wippler
very rudimentary and slanted information about the Qabalah
as interpreted by Gonzalez-Whippler.
The Black Arts By Richard Cavendish
valuable preliminary study for occultism and the study of
Demonology and Satanism generally. you don't mention it,
but you might as well add Colin Wilson's "The Occult" too.

<much deleted irrelevant material to Satanism
including Scientology crap>
The satanic Witch by Anton Lavey
supplementary tangent on gender-attraction and the
manipulation of others (Lesser Black Magick).
formerly known as "The Compleat Witch".
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen Covey
seems like it might be helpful, depending on the
Satanist. a bunch of are social misfits and so
such re-socializing text may be valuable.
The Antichrist By Friedrich Nietzsche
Beyond Good & Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche
Why I am Not a Christian by Bertrand Russell
for the former Christians, no doubt.

<much deleted material irrelevant to Satanism per se
excepting possibly as general extended philosophic
or religion study>
The Secret Doctrine By H P Blavatsky
A Treatise On White Magic by A A Bailey
thoroughly worthless except to Blavatsky-followers
and those after her such as the worthless Bailey.
these are "white light" materials and have all
kinds of wasted mystic crap.
This List is by no means complete. however, it is the
basis for the ministerial program.
why are any or all of these selected for the program?
this isn't noted, indicating a lack of cohesive analysis.

again, thanks for expressing your org-requirements in a
forum which is more likely than not antagonistic toward
your interests (because focussed on individualism).

in the coming days I'll post a booklist that I recenly
constructed from an adventure in Amazon.com if I find it.

blessed beast!

... while many people say Anton LaVey and Rev. Marilyn Manson
ripped off Nietzche's philosophy, I don't care.
let them demonstrate this. it has been far more interesting to
see the attempts to substantiate the notion that LaVey got all
his material from Redbeard and Ayn Rand. ;) at least the
initial was credited, the latter was not.
The fact that Nietzche
was a German and therefore by definition completely insane
an awkward evaluation. you don't even mention the proper
spelling of his name, or the perturbation of Nietzsche's
work by his sister (a Nazi), who marred it very badly.
makes his ideas not even worth considering
in general, agreed. let Zarathustra have it.
- it is only by their reinterpretation
by Revs. LaVey and Manson in contemporary non-German terms that the
ideas can even be considered.
correct, so evaluate them in that context and ignore the rest
until and unless it can be shown how these connect and what
are some previous evaluations in critical analysis from which
Satanists might glean. few do more than snipe that "it all
came from somewhere else (was not original) and so wasn't
worth examining." in this way they may avoid it and thus
place attention on other ambiguous things whilst they are
siphoning off your money and attentions.
But all the rest of the list (snipped)
sounds like a bunch of metaphysical voodoo crap that I won't waste any
of my brainpower reading and analyzing.
you're very close to spot on.

I never see the "Satanic Bible" rip off of the Enochian Keys or calls
by Dee and Kelly mentioned unless i bring it up. Is this some sort of
"given" that "satanists" dont even bother to mention anymore?

I thought the "Satanic Witch" was a more interesting volume.
